چکیده

A narrow-linewidth laser with excellent temporal coherence is an important light source for microphysics, space detection, and high-precision measurement. An ultranarrow-linewidth output a linewidth as narrow subhertz has been generated theoretical length over millions of kilometers. Traditional grating spectrum measurement technology wide wavelength scanning range extended dynamic range, but the spectral resolution can only reach gigahertz level. The Fabry–Pérot interferometer megahertz With continuous improvement coherence, requirements are increasing, which also promotes rapid development lasers their applications. In this article, methods research progress reviewed to provide reference researchers engaged in development, measurement, applications lasers.

Dual-microcavity narrow-linewidth Brillouin laser

Ultralow-noise yet tunable lasers are a revolutionary tool in precision spectroscopy, displacement measurements at the standard quantum limit, and the development of advanced optical atomic clocks. Further applications include lidar, coherent communications, frequency synthesis, and precision sensors of strain, motion, and temperature. While all applications benefit from lower frequency noise, ...

Narrow-Linewidth Distributed Feedback Channel

We report on the fabrication and characterization of a distributed feedback channel waveguide laser in erbium-doped aluminium oxide on a standard thermally oxidized silicon substrate. Holographically-written surface-relief Bragg gratings have been integrated with the aluminium oxide waveguides via reactive ion etching of a silicon dioxide overlay film. The laser operates at a wavelength of 1545...

Narrow linewidth Brillouin laser based on chalcogenide photonic chip.

We present, to the best of our knowledge, the first demonstration of a narrow linewidth, waveguide-based Brillouin laser that is enabled by large Brillouin gain of a chalcogenide chip. The waveguides are equipped with vertical tapers for low-loss coupling. Due to optical feedback for the Stokes wave, the lasing threshold is reduced to 360 mW, which is five times lower than the calculated single...

Diode laser with 1 Hz linewidth.

We report an ultranarrow-linewidth laser spectrometer at 657 nm, consisting of a diode laser locked in a single stage to a stable high-finesse reference cavity. The system is characterized by comparison with a second independent system. From beat frequency measurements a linewidth below 1.5 Hz (FWHM) and a fractional instability of less than 2 x 10(-15) for 1 s of averaging time are observed.
